My own illustration of Dante Alighieri's Conception of Hell, as described in the Devine Comedy. However, my version of Dante's Inferno shows an inverted power structure of hell. Comprised of different layers, awaiting those guilty of the crimes of: Greed, Violence, Racial Violence, Sexual Violence, Heresy, Ecocide, Political Collusion and Finally, The Betrayal of Everyone on Earth.

Above hell, one can see those in limbo, our current existence. Walking blindly towards the lures of hell despite the best efforts of the Apostates of Satan. The demons attempting to prevent this fate, are those who due to their radical opposition to the norms of a corrupt society have been literally demonised. These Demons populate every circle of Hell dishing out punishment to those guilty of the relevant crimes.

Greed: Fed on gold celebrities, are fattened by those that have admonished the crime of hoarding wealth, Siddartha Gautama the Buddha flies above, while Mikhail Bakunin and Ho Chi Minh shovel gold into Leonardo DiCaprio's waiting maw.

Violence: Irrational violence is punished in the second circle of hell with with understanding, compassion and forgiveness.  The tears of those forgiven, create a great ocean in which IOF soldiers, serial killers and school shooters drown. Above them fly both non-violent agitators and those that have utilised their violent actions to challenge authoritarian violence. Among them Dr M.L King, and Anne Frank, French Philosopher Foucault and Death Camp survivor Viktor Frankle as well as Anarchist Assassin Kurt Gustav Wilckens and Raoul Wallenberg who saved thousands from the Holocaust.

 

Racial Violence: Worse than the random violence of the previous level, violence based on the insanity of racial hierarchy is here punished in the eternal rain of circle 3. Anders Breivik, Dylan Roof and Christchurch shooter Brenton Tarrant are here flayed and permanently silenced by Malcom X, Fred Hampton, Maya Angelou, Nina Simone, Ukrainian Anarchist Nestor Makhno and Harriet Tubman before crawling to have their ideology disproved by writer W.E.B DuBois.

 

Sexual Violence: Possibly the oldest form of human repression, perpetrators of sexual violence such as: Gary Glitter, Andrew Tate, Russell Brand and Wayne Cousins receive a variety of punishments from former victims and female activists including from left to right: Suffragist Theresa Garnett, famous for horsewhipping Winston Churchill, Feminist abolitionist Sojourner Truth, Artist Artemisia Gentileschi, Powatan Princess Pocahontas and the German Communist Rosa Luxembourg. 

 

Heresy: The source of the previous crimes and the origin of those to come, the Heresy alluded to in the 5th circle of hell is the following of the ideologies of Fascism, Conservatism, Islamism, Zionism and Evangelism. Within the mists that conceal smashed false idols and abandoned churches, figures like John Berger, Emma Goldman, Sitting Bull, Meena Keshwa Kamal, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Peter Kropotkin and Antonio Gramsci literally blow the minds of Suella Braveman, Lee Anderson and Piers Morgan of Itamar Ben Gvir, Jordan Peel and Nerendera Modi and of Hibatullah Akhundzada supreme leader of the Taliban, King Abdul-Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia. Lastly on the furtherst right of the scene MArie Le Pen joins Georgia Meloni and Javier Millei in the same fate.

 

Ecocide: The crime of the destruction of the planet for either selfish or ideological means, is punished in the third lowest level of hell through the literalising of the perpetrators crimes. Here figures like J.P Morgan Chase CEO, Jamie Dimon and Chevron CEO, Mike Wirth join public climate change deniers Jeremy Clarkson and Tucker Carlson in the act of burrying their children in the uninhabitable hellscape they seek to turn earth into. All while being roasted by those that saw the coming apocalypse and tried their hardest to put the earth first. From Paulo Paulino Guajajara through Judi Bari, and Manuel Paez Teran to Ken Saro-Wiwa, Benny Rothman and Berta Caceres.

 

Political Collusion: For those politicians that betray the people that they are supposed to represent and have handed power to oligarchs and kleptocrats the penalty is to do what they have done on earth briefly for eternity. Talk Shit. The shit provided comes from Political figures of actual integrity and moral commitment. Patrice Lumumba, Tony Benn and Clement Atlee, Dolores Ibarruri, Che Guevara, Karl Marx, Neville Bonnar and Salvidor Allende, Ensure that the like of Dick Cheney, Tony Blair, Jair Bolsenaro and Boris Johnson taste more than their own medicine.

 

The Ultimate Betrayal of Everyone: Dante reserved the lowest circle of hell for betrayers. In the pit, Satan in the form of a three headed dragon, feasted on the legs of Cassius and Brutus betrayers of Caesar, and on the head of Judas betrayer of Christ. In front of him a lake of ice, created by the flapping of his wings. The lake at the centre of my Inferno however, is one of molten Gold and in it burn the likes of Peter Thiel, Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Fink, James Quincy and other billionaires and CEO's. Those that have betrayed ultimately the earth and its inhabitants, chief among them and set to be devoured for all eternity by a three headed Satan: Elon Musk, Rupert Murdoch and Jeff Bezos.
